Description: Divide class into groups of 3 –4.  One group draws/designs: animals (cut out), flora and fauna (cut out), setting.  On a large roll of construction paper have them design their own version of a rainforest after showing them Rousseau’s work so that they can learn about his style

Materials: Roll of construction paper, glue, scissors, colored construction paper (various colors for animal and floral choices), pastels, craypas, marker and crayons

Presentation Time:  30 – 40 mins

NOTES:

a.        Known as a primitive painter because he had no professional training

b.       Used bold colors and painted in a decorative style

c.        Polished the surfaces of his canvases to a high gloss

d.       Loved to paint realistic subjects in a fantasy environment. Great use of his imagination
