| Project Description |
Description: While classical music played, the students painted in Seurat’s style. The picture people moved from table to table constantly showing Seurat’s prints – using microscopes, they could carefully scan the tiny dots of paint he used. Materials: Thin paint brushes, watercolors, 9”x12” white paper, microscopes (small hand-held ones) supplied by teacher Presentation Time: 1 hour |
| Presentation Content | The lesson was based on the unit “Small Things Made Big” – and by showing the detail used in Seurat’s work, and going into the theories of pointillism. The kids did their own studies painting by dots only – no sketching with pencils allowed. |
| Comments | They were busy , frankly, I was surprised by their level of intensity and concentration. They like to hear a bit about the artist’s life, and I always make it a point to show some sort of photo of the artist. |
